overview
Dengue epidemic started in 2011 and then Dengue Expert Advisory Group (DEAG) was formed. It prepared charts, forms, algorithms and management protocols for patients, and in the subsequent years, we were able to control the dengue epidemic by taking drastic steps in the management and training of the doctors.

Founder's Message

Dengue related infections have gripped Pakistan with an unprecedented intensity and magnitude that our country has never encountered before. Dengue fever has touched lives adversely, leaving behind tears and fears, scaring the psyche of the nation for at least a short time. A nation that is already fighting war on terror on multiple fronts, Dengue related morbidity and mortality could not have occurred at a more difficult time. Instead of giving up to this adversity, we decided to stand up and take the challenge head on. Since Dengue related infections are a relatively new disease in this part of the world, doctors’ training and guidance was of paramount importance. For this very purpose, Dengue Expert Advisory Group was formed for provision of advanced clinical advice for management of difficult dengue cases, development of national guidelines and capacity building for medical and paramedical staff.

Chairman's Message

Dengue related infections have gripped Pakistan as well as other countries. Dengue can be a serious infection, yet preventable. Timely, precise vigilance can curtail this menace to bare minimum. Surveillance, larvicidal activities are the key factors in prevention of Dengue infection. Once infection has occurred, morbidity and mortality can be minimized with close monitoring and exemplary medical management. Patient presenting late in the course of the disease can run into hurdles, therefore timely checkup and close monitoring is the way to save lives. Dengue Expert Advisory Group was formed for provision of advanced clinical advice for management of difficult dengue cases, development of national guidelines and capacity building for medical and paramedical staff. We at DEAG, are working hand in hand with Primary, Specialized healthcare and CDC to facilitate patients with meticulous dengue management.

Chairperson's Message

Dengue continues to pose a significant health challenge in our region, and the Dengue Expert Advisory Group (DEAG) remains committed to addressing this pressing issue. As we look ahead, recognizing the ever-increasing threat of dengue is essential, exacerbated by factors like climate change and population growth.
DEAG is a vital platform where experts deliberate on dengue-related challenges and propose innovative strategies for improved control. Our collective efforts focus on reducing the burden of dengue through a multi-disciplinary approach that includes vector control, vaccination updates, and enhanced disease management.
In the face of rising dengue cases, proactive measures are crucial. DEAG helps develop and disseminate guidelines and protocols that empower healthcare professionals to respond effectively, from early recognition to fluid therapy management.
Together, we can strengthen our defenses against dengue, safeguarding the health and well-being of our communities. Let us continue working tirelessly to combat this disease and build a healthier future for all.

Chairperson's Message

Dengue is an endemic disease in Pakistan while rising population densities and climate change have made Punjab as one of the epicenters for the country's largest dengue fever outbreak. In the wake of these regional threats, being ever-vigilant with ready responses to dengue outbreaks are key to lowering fatality rates. Additionally, even as curative action coupled with vector control remain the backbone of dengue control. Dengue Expert Advisory Group serves as a platform for dengue experts from across the province to discuss the issues that surround dengue disease management and propose strategies that can enhance dengue control. Such a wide representation of key stakeholders helps to throw light on the burden of dengue, its management, new vector control strategies and updates on the dengue vaccine. Proactive management of dengue involves a multi-disciplinary effort with team training, rehearsal of skills from triage to ICU team, and early recognition, monitoring, and management of fluid therapy. DEAG carries out all these activities by developing guidelines and protocols that are disseminated across the province by its diligent and energetic team of master trainers.
